Thanks to God it’s another edition of Voices From Zion. We give God Almighty all the glory for the past editions and for speaking to us every time through this medium. What a mighty God we serve! He’s ever faithful and always sending new words. It’s a known fact that things change with time. In fact the sun doesn’t shine for 24hours on the earth, the moon rules the night as a lesser light. It doesn’t rain daily throughout the year every year. We were even told that weather conditions change over a long period of time. Babies grows as they live on, youth grows to become an adult and later turns old. Someone said the only constant thing in Life is change. Yet their are things (laws), that doesn’t change. There is no day that it will become proper for any man to walk by jumping or eat with his legs or try to see with his ears, so there are life constant course. UNCHANGED
Psalm 125:4-5 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. *As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel
From our Biblical text, the psalmist is actually praying; calling on God to be kind towards those that are good and turn away from those that turn from being kind. It’s often noted that some are good to others but at some points of their life they turned from being kind to people. What does it mean to be good?
- Merciful: It means to possess a good and soft heart towards people. You hate to see them cry, suffer or be in pains. Not counting people’s short comings against them, looking for ways to get people out of their calamities. Being merciful also include not using people’s weakness against them but rather helping them.
If knowing how to destroy for your lust, going forth to destroy a system that has added good to you, and refraining from such you should help, when they are facing battles; depicts the kind of heart you possess. It’s an evil heart. I pray that God Almighty will heal your heart from wickedness and give you a good heart. And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: God is the healer of evil heart and the giver of good heart. Though we err at times and we go wrong yet by His mercy he delivers us. If God decided to fight the sinner none will remain. Psalm 130:3 says If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? The truth is being a merciful person has a lot of rewards which are beyond human comprehension Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. It is good to be less judgemental, be without hatred or shifting blames but to always accept responsibility (to help out)
- Honest: If you are not honest you are not reliable and you are very dangerous. Dishonesty is lying. Being honest means being true to a person, course or a system. Most men on the earth today are not even honest, not loyal and very hard to trust. Some can’t be trusted with money or position, some misused power and oppress the people they need to help. It’s dishonesty not to keep to laws and principle guiding a particular system, operation or gospel ministry given to us or we belong to. If you are not honest, you will be dangerous to friends, family and colleagues. You are even dangerous to the body of Christ. Everyone loves honest people. If you are honest, many will like to relate with you and commit things into your trust. Listen to Jesus in Luke 16:11 which says If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
If you are not honest people will not recommend you except wicked people like yourself. However for good operation and position, you will never be on their list. Matthew 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. We must be trustworthy and whenever you don’t live up to what you have said, quickly come out and let people know the reason. If you are honest and not religious, people will yet trust you and likes your person because you are truthful, with the honest their is rest of mind. Honesty makes you a reliable person to many.
- Best On Your Job: It means the best any man can find in your field. It is good to be solely dedicated to a cause and be lost in a field of calling. Be very good on your job, be an expert and you will always be preferred being the best hand that can be found. This will naturally bring favour your way Proverbs 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. You need to be a hard worker on your job if you want to get the best of it and rule in that field. If you are very good on your job, successful people will like to relate with you. It’s often said that birds of same feather flock together. Some are not born again or religious but because they are very good on their job and the good services they render to humanity; they were tagged the best. The following wise sayings will bless you.
- A good man is a God-man.
- A good man is a man of the people.
- A good man is a man most sought out for.
- A good man is always needed.
- Beauty may fade away, money may finish, position may end but act of kindness will always be remembered.
- The cheapest way to win the heart of people and to win position of election is to be good always.
Another side of this topic is why are some people, turning away from being good.
- Hijacked Hearts: The hearts of people can be turned by evil communication if it were good heart and can be turn by godly communication if it were evil hearts. It is good to know that the devil always look for ways to enter the heart of good people and make them turn away from their well doings. When your hearts is hijacked by the forces of deceitfulness of this sinful world, Paul warn Timothy in 1st Timothy 1:19 he says Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: A good person will not continue to be a good person if he refused to guard his heart. May God help us all in Jesus name.
- Unnecessary Expectation: It is good to note that people can be kind openly (publicly) for a purpose and if that purpose is not fulfilled they tend to withdraw. Some politicians are good to people because of their anticipated position and if they fail they withdraw and may become very wicked. If you are good to people because of a particular thing you want to get from them then you are yet to understand the scriptures, the Bible says He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Proverbs 19:17 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. *The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. *The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. Psalm 41:1-3 and also you should know that There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21. Don’t expect return from those you are helping otherwise you will be offended if they couldn’t.
- Taking Offence: This is worse off, when you take offence at God, then your bound is made strong. Their are men of God that shuts down their church ministry and forgo their calling because they took offence at God. God is good all the time. Your material blessings on earth is not a major prove of your heavenly reward. So if you don’t have them as others, don’t be offended. Keep doing good because great are your rewards in the heavenly. You will soon thank God. Jesus said And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. Luke 7:23 He remains God.
UNCHANGED
It’s good to remain UNCHANGED in well doing. Just as the course of daily rotation remains unchanged, the world revolved round, the sun light shines forth, the moon reveals light from the sun at night, the north, south, east and west never change, remains unchanged too in kindness and goodness. God will always be good to those that are good. And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14 because he remain unchanged and cannot change. The blessings of God upon the good transcends down there generation. If you remain unchanged in kindness and remain good as long as you live, your well doings will keep speaking even after you are long gone. If you still wonder why you have to always do well, then study this word very well: Psalm 125:4-5 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. *As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon (the unchanged in good doings) Israel
