FEET WASHING:
John 13:1-4 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. *And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him; * Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; *He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
Most of the powerful men of this age have something in common, Men of God in Christendom Inclusive. When death is close on them, most of them will begin to plan how to transfer their powers and authority to their successor, children or follower. Jesus already knew that it’s time to go back to his father, So he transferred his inheritance to them by washing and cleansing their feet.
It’s good to note that the powerful ones are the only one that knew how to transfer who they are to whosoever. It’s good to focus on what made a man not what any man has made. Jesus transferred what has made him not what he has made. Jesus washing the feet of his disciple looks so ordinary but in verse 5-8 says After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. * Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? * Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. *Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. The mystery was proved. Everything we are commanded to do have their specific place in our worship of God. For instance Anointing oil is not everything and Holy Communion is not everything! Have you asked yourself? If salvation is everything why do we go for water baptism, can’t we make heaven without it? Everything we are commanded to do and all scriptural practices have their place in our worship of God. Can’t God bless us without Giving but why must we give? After we have become follower of Jesus’ why do we need to ask for forgiveness of sin again? After getting saved why do we need to be addicted to church services, if they all have their places in our worship of God then contest not the place of feet washing. Until you gain access into the mystery of feet washing you won’t believe it isn’t an ordinary rite.
