DECLARATION OF REPENTANCE AND CONVERSION

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Act 3:19

This title is of a higher order, you can’t actually be converted except you repent and you can never repent except that the power of repentance hit you hard. Many individuals and congregation are wallowing in some mess which they have found difficult to be free from. They tried all they could yet they are still in it, when a sinful addiction is actually beyond your capacity (control) then you need the help of God to be out of it. Let’s look at the earthly results of strong addictions:

Untimely Death:  James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. That sin! Want to actually kill you. Something you need to understand today is that the devil cannot come (most of the time) to destroy your life except there is a particular addiction or sin in your life. Sin is actually the ladder on which the devil always climbs to destroy great destinies. Job was free from the devil because he was first free from sin; he got God all around himself because he eschews evil. Job 1:1,10There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. *Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. That means at sin point you hand over your life into the hand of the devil for total destruction.

Make you a loser:  Strong addiction to inordinate sexual intercourse can make you lose all your next generation children. Strong addiction to hard drink and smoking (all kinds) can leads to health hazards and while others are gaining productively you will be losing gallantly. If a driver of a vehicle is addicted to breaking traffic rules and driving regulations will soon lose his life. End result of sin is to make us lose at even where others are gaining. You can lose good opportunities by talking too much, fighting, indiscipline and the likes. The devil’s instrument in making you a loser is actually strong addiction to a particular sinful act. Act 1:16-19, Matthew 27:3-5 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: *And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. *Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, *Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.  *And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Judas Iscariot lose at the end and was loathed among the people. He became a mockery because of his dubious life; he went on and gets busted. 
 
Stinking Savour: Ecclesiastes 10:1 Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour. It will make you lack good recommendation; once you allowed that sin to continue, spiritually and socially you will stink. Hardly would people recommend you for a good position. In case you weren’t aware people knew your characteristics. The reason many are not being helped is because they sent forth sinking smell. The devil makes men and women unfortunate of life circumstances via strong sinful act and deadly addictions. Therefore if you want to live longer, gain and enjoy fruitful labour? If you want to smell favour always and not stink? Then stop that sin!

I want us to pick the word one by one to sieve out the virtues in them.

Repent ye therefore…It could mean Turn, Stop and Move. The word repent in Act 3:19 is rendered authoritatively just as Jesus commanded Lazarus out of the grave in John 11:43 and he came forth. Repent was rendered with a command tone. Repent means Turn from, Stop that sin, Move out of that addiction by the power of God. So I declare into your life right now, Repent!

…and be converted…converted here also is a command tone, just as our today’s world has all kinds of home appliances and industrial machines that respond to the pressing of button. That word is sent to you. Be converted means that the power of God will convert you from that addiction by the forces heavenly (Conversion forces)

…when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; it represent calmness, the urge for that sin will die, the forces behind the act will leave you and all the ability to fall back to it will be lost, that is the time when refreshing comes. You will be released and totally restored; then spiritually you will enjoy progress, physically and socially you will see good result.

More so one need to adhere to (personal and) what destiny requires from us, just as God says razor should not come on Samson but when he was shaved, he lost his ability. Disobedient to what destiny require from each of us can also leads to some sin or addictions. Stay from food and drinks that are allergic to you, If you go against what destiny requires of you, it will actually leads to what you cannot control.

Sin or wickedness against our fellow humans can also lead to doom. You can through molestation of women begin to suffer an uncontrolled act. Their may be need to seek forgiveness from people that you offended, they may need to bless you before you can be free. If you are too big to say sorry then you are too small to recover your losses. Also it’s good to note that forgiveness from man may be tough, if not done wisely it can lead to brutality. Our Lord Jesus says *Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. *But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. *And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Matthew 18:15-17 There are cases that people have to go to the burial ground of someone they offended to seek forgiveness, though to Christians it’s absurd and unacceptable but if it will bring peace then it worth doing. The person that you offended might be a spiritual wicked person who had fiddle with your destiny and made you to lose in life, you need divine intervention because the devilish ones hardly forgive. Let me round up with this Testimony a Pastor shared with me. This particular rich man had several houses and fleet of cars, all of a sudden his businesses began to crumble until he begin to sell his houses and other properties, then the big bang, he lost his two eyes, he couldn’t see anymore. After he had being carried to several hospitals and to the spiritualist for attention, their was no way out. So this case was brought to one of mine pastor. The man of God waded in and the rich man’s eight years old daughter confesses to be the one punishing his father. So the man of God begged her and she took the man of God to where she kept the eyes in another city far away from where they lived, more than 120km, a place she hasn’t physically travelled to, when this was done the father’s eyes got opened, and began to see clearly again, so the man of God asked for the restoration of her father’s business and the girl said if he (the father) promised to take care of him, immediately the father prostrated for his daughter swear to his hurt and promised; next day his business begin to take shape again. Finally the Pastor asked the spiritually eight years old wicked girl, why did you dealt with your father so badly? She said because I asked him to give me money to buy sugar (to drink garri) and she said no money and I said their will be no money from now on. Later the girl was delivered by the intervention of this anointed man of God. Remain ever Blessed.
